Ways Canadians Honour Veterans on Remembrance Day and Everyday

New To Canada?  Please Respect Our Veterans!

Honouring Canadian veterans is a meaningful way to show appreciation for their service and sacrifices. This post has are some ways you can participate - not jus on Remembrance Day, but throughout the year.

Note: Earlier this month there was a ground swell of people excitedly wanting to use the Poppy - Canada's symbol to remember the great sacrifices made by our Veterans in the war to draw attention to a cause of their own. Not only is this disrespectful, but it is illegal. The Poppy Campaign that the Royal Canadian Legion uses each year to raise funds for special projects aimed at helping veterans is copyright and is not to be changed or altered.

  • Make Special Offers to Veterans: Do you have a business? Some restaurants and other businesses will sometimes make special offers available to Veterans on Remembrance Day, or even through the whole year. Here are the search results for Special offers for Veterans such as free coffee at various Coffee shops and Red Lobster offering free shrimp.
  • Visiting Cemeteries and Memorials: Pay your respects at local cemeteries or war memorials. Families and organizations will often purchase special wreaths through their local Legion to lay at Memorials. You can find out more about ordering wreaths here on the Canadian Legion Website.
