Recently, I needed to take a flight between a couple of major cities in Canada. Not having a lot of money, I prayed for guidance in booking the flight, and thankfully , it all turned out all right. This post has a list of some of the things I discovered during my adventure. However, I am quite sure you probably have some great tips to help Canadian Seniors save money on their flights too, so please pop a note in the comment section below and let everyone know.

Money Saving Tips for Canadian Flights

I found out quite a few different things on my flight this spring. Here are my top five money saving tips for flights.
- Use Google Chrome to look for a great price on a flight. I had absolutely no idea that you could use Goole Chrome like this. I was praying and asking for guidance on how to get the best price on a one-way flight, and it was put in my heart to search - best price on a flight from Regina , Saskatchewan to Toronto, Ontario. Up popped a calendar where I could choose a flight by the lowest price available on that date.
- Save on parking. Parking can cost a lot- esoecially if you will be gone for a while. A sister-in-the-LORD kindly drove my car to her friend's house and parked it there for me. I am praying for the LORD to show me a way to repay their kindness.
- Travel light. The lowest priced flight offered add-on expenses for checked luggage, and a carry on bag. Normally, I would have thought, "There is no way that I could possibly travel without at least a backpack", but it was put in my heart to resist temptation and give it a try - to fly ultra light. By opting to only have a bag I could stow under the seat ahead of me, I was able to save hundreds of dollars. Now if you are like me and have to carry epipens and other medications, or a C-Pap machine , like my friend, it is important to know that you are allowed bags for medical reasons for free. I dressed in layers and wore a coat with lots of pockets that I filled with my items in ziploc bags. I also carried my medications in an osprey style bag across my chest. For the bag that fit under the seat, I reused a sturdy clear zipper bag from a double sheet set and was led to put a folded up reusable plastic shopping bag in it, so when I arrived at my destination I could take off some of my layers of clothes and put them in it. Instead of packing a lot of clothes I also opted to bring gift cards that I got for free by playing games through this free app.
- BYOS. Bring your own snacks. On the plane and in the airport prices for food are atrocious. Unfortunately, you cannot bring your own drink, unless it is in a extremely small bottle. I got thirsty at a stop between planes and had to pay $8.03 for a small bottle of orange juice at a Starbucks.
- Keep your boarding pass handy! I almost threw my boarding pass out when I got off my flight, but thankfully I didn't. When I went to book a rental car at the airport, they wanted two pieces of photo ID, but happily accepted my boarding pass instead of one of the pieces of photo ID. Note: Booking a rental car at the airport can save you a ton of money, but get your car insurance through CAA. CAA charged me $11.24 a day, but the car rental company would have been over $30 a day.I was very grateful that the your man at ACE car rentals gave me that tip.
