Canadian Seniors Share Your Hanukkah Savings Tips!

Happy Hanukah! Hanukkah!Chanukah!

Hanukah whatever way you spell it is a joyful time of year celebrating a miracle of provision.  A tiny group of people were able to win the battle against the Greek army and reclaim their temple. When they went to rededicate their temple, they found only a tiny bit of oil to burn in the sacred lampstand - only enough to last for one day, but miraculously it lasted 8 days and nights!
Did you know that Jesus celebrated Hannukah? Don't believe me? Look in the book! You will find it referred to as the Feast of Dedication in John 10:22-23.
Hanukkah is celebrated starting on the 25th day of Kislev which usually falls in December, but in 2021, it is on November 28th at sundown.
This post has a few of my favourite links to useful information, and crafts you might like to use to celebrate Hannukah.

Chanukah Crafts

Make your own chanukiah. A hanukiah is a  bit like a menorah, but it has 8 lights with a ninth light in the middle that is distinct from the other eight. This centre light is used to light the other eight lights that are lit one each night in a very specific order. While it is traditional to have olive oil as the lights many people use candles. The chanukiah is usually displayed in a window or outside. Here is a video explaining how to properly light a Chanukah Menorah from Chabad.og.
If you cannot have lit candles, you might like to create a paper chanukiah to put in your window and add a paper flame each night.
Here is cute idea using clothespins with paper flames. that even young children could pretend to light.
