Canadian Grocer Almost Perfect Offers Huge Savings
Canadian Seniors fortunate enough to live near a store like Almost Perfect save tonnes of money when they purchase foods that are either frozen prior to the best before date or purchasing foods that have come from damaged boxes. While the retail chain Almost Perfect aka The Grocery Outlet is only available in a few locations in Ontario, perhaps you know of a similar grocer near you that offers the same great reduced prices of similar products.
Every year millions of dollars of perfectly good food end up in garbage bins because the exterior box is not as beautiful as it should be, or the product has not been frozen prior to its best before date.
In some countries, the astronomical loss in foods has been stemmed by the government imposing heavy penalties on grocery stores if they throw out food. I wonder if it might make a difference if such a law were enacted here.
This post has a video of a recipe \made using Maple Leaf pre-cooked ground beef purchased at a greatly reduced cost that had been frozen prior to its best before date.

Easy Maple Leaf Prepped and Ready Ground Beef Review and Recipe
If you can get pre-cooked foods at a greatly reduced cost it can save you tonnes of money each year in more ways than one. How many ways can you save by purchasing pre-cooked foods at a greatly reduced cost?
- First, you are obviously saving money at the store.
- Next, you are saving money on the electricity you would have used in cooking the food.
- Lastly, time is money! When you purchase pre-cooked foods at a reduced cost, you are able to use the time you would have taken in cooking the food to do something else.
Maple Leaf Prepped and Ready Ground Beef Review
I purchased the Maple Leaf Prepped and Ready Ground Beef at one of the Almost Perfect Grocery Outlets in Peterborough Ontario when I was camping for only $1.99! This was an incredible deal as it was frozen before the best before date. If you are going camping I highly recommend purchasing precooked meat rather than fresh meat for several reasons:
- First, you are not having to carry the extra weight of fat that would be cooked off during the cooking process.
- Second, you do not need to be as concerned about keeping the meat cold as if it were fresh.
- Third, you do not need to worry about any possible cross-contamination of your other foods either during transport or even during food preparation.
- Finally, sometimes it is just too hot in the summer to build a fire to cook your food, so having pre-cooked meat means you can stay cool and enjoy delicious food as well.

Thanks for stopping by Simona! I was really amazed at how much money a person could save on meat at this store. I wish they had outlets in more communities.
