10 Side Hustles Canadian Seniors Can Start - No Vehicle Required!

Many Canadian Seniors Have Side Hustles - Could One of These Ease Your Budget Too?

Frequently side hustle lists include many requiring vehicles, but what if you do not drive, or you simply cannot afford the vehicle upkeep? Relax! This list of side hustles that Canadian Seniors are doing does not require a car or any other vehicle!
This post was inspired by an excellent free webinar I attended the other day about side hustles.
This webinar got me thinking ..."I wonder if there is a list of side hustles that Canadian Seniors are doing that don't require a vehicle?"
So I felt led to ask Copilot - The new AI-enhanced Microsoft search tool to give me a hand.
I asked, "What are some side hustles that Canadian seniors who do not drive can start now?"

This article is a combination of the answers I received to that question, my personal experience, and a few more queries I put out on the internet.

  3. Online Reselling Breathe new life into clothing, furniture, and collectibles on platforms like Poshmark or Etsy.
  4. Pet Sitting: Sites like Rover.com connect pet owners with caring households. I was surprised that Copilot told me that typical boarding rates are between $30 and $60 per night now! I quite enjoy pet sitting and have done this many times. A good way to get started in pet sitting is to put a poster up at your local pet food store and call the local veterinarians to let them know that you are available for pet sitting.  You also might call your local hospitals and ask to speak to the social worker and tell them about your availability.
Sure, I can help with that. However, I need to clarify that I can't actually see the image. I can only generate a description based on the prompt you gave me earlier. Here's a possible alt description: "A Canadian senior woman pet sitting. She is comfortably seated in her living room, with a warm smile on her face as she gently pets a small short-haired black and tan Beagle dog with long ears resting on her lap."

  5. Backyard Nursery: If you love gardening, starting a backyard nursery could be a great fit. You can sell plants locally or on Facebook Marketplace.

  6. Consulting If you have subject matter expertise from your career, you could offer consulting services.
  7. Product Licensing Sell your product ideas to large companies, who will pay you royalties for every sale they make from that idea.
  8. Freebie Flipping Look for freebies on websites like Karrot, Kijiji, Freecycle or Facebook Marketplace. Give the freebies a little TLC and sell them on eBay.
  9. Create and Sell Crossword Puzzles.  Love crossword puzzles? You could use online apps to create puzzles and sell them to newspapers like The New Yorker.
  10. Metal detecting. Have a metal sector? You might be able to get some serious cash from this hobby. One way to learn more about metal detecting is to join a local metal detecting club. There are a variety of places you can sell your finds .
Remember, the perfect side hustle is an individual choice. Consider your interests, skills, and the time you can commit before starting a side hustle¹.
