Easy Healthy Slushies , Milkshakes, and Popsicles
Many fruits freeze well and are very nice eaten frozen. Buying fruits that are very ripe can save you a lot of money, but you can't eat all that fruit right away. So freeze it and enjoy it for many days.
Easy Freezer Apple Sauce
Wash apples and set them individually in the freezer. Let freeze until hard.
Take out and start to defrost. Just as the frost starts to disappear, peel the thin layer of skin off if you cannot eat apple skin easily. Reserve the thin apple skin for use in other recipes. Frozen apples can be eaten in the hand, but can get a bit messy.!
Frozen Pear Slush

Banana "Popsicles"
Simply pop a whole banana into the freezer. Then, when you are ready for a cold treat , take the banana out and let it thaw out a bit - peel and eat! I have found I really like eating my bananas this way!
Juice Box Freezie Push-ups
Sometimes juice boxes go on sale or you might be gifted a few. Wash the juice boxes thoroughly then flatten and freeze. Ready to enjoy a big freezie? Take a juice box out of the freezer and let it thaw a bit. Slice across the top of the juice box and peel back the carton to enjoy your big freeze freezie!.
Banana Milkshake
This recipe was one of the favourites of my students in Attawapiskat First Nations.
Wash and freeze bananas in their skins. To make a sweet lo-cal bannana milkshake, run the banana under cold water to loosen the skin. Whirl the frozen banana in a blender with low-fat milk till frothy and enjoy. No blender? Get some exercise by mashing the frozen bannana with a fork and gradually adding skim milk to it.
Easy Super-Sized Juice Popsicle
You might make this super-sized popsicle for pop on his special day. Simply put a spoon in a bowl, pour juice mixed with a bit of water overtop. Then pop the bowl into the freezer. After it is frozen solid, take the bowl out of the freezer and let it sit a bit in the refrigerator - this keeps any curious flies away. Serve the popsicle with the bowl to catch any drips.
